
What is there to do at Geek Out?
We host a wide variety of different aspects that make the event a unique experience. During the day we focus on fun and relaxing. You can browse the wide array of vendors, enjoy food and a panel in the pavilion, or enjoy our enthralling night life after 8pm.
Is camping included?
Yes, all passes include primitive, festival styled camping. There are electric and RV sites available. We are also located next to Hueston Woods that has a lodge with hotel rooms and other camping options available off site but within a 5-10 minute drive to festival grounds.
Are there restrooms or bath houses on site?
Camp has 2 sets of indoor restrooms and a unisex shower house at the back of the lodge. The festival will be supplying port-o-lets, including handicap accessible ones, on site as well.
Is the event family friendly?
The event is family friendly from 12pm-8pm. We will host a variety of family friendly activities and shows during the day. After 8pm the event will still be running, but adult themed events will be ramping up into the late night. Children are to be escorted by their families and guardians to their campsites or chaperoned. The event cannot be held liable for anything your children see or hear if they are not escorted back to camp.
How does one apply to be a part of the event?
Volunteers, performers, vendors and professional cosplayers (cosplay competition is on site) can apply for consideration via the links found on our website at: geekoutfestival.com. Musicians may send their epks or pitches to our email at: geekoutfestival@gmail.com
Is water accessible?
We discourage drinking the water from the tap at camp as it's well water, and encourage everyone to bring water in their camping supplies. Water will be available for purchase from food vendors and the lodge. There is a Walmart conveniently located on the other side of Hueston Woods as well.
Are events at the festival included in the ticket price?
For the majority of events, yes it is included in the ticket price. Vending wares, certain experiences, tournaments and activities may require a sign up or payment to participate in.
May we spin fire or LED when not a booked performer?
LED's are encouraged, as long as they are being used safely. Fire is controlled by our fire circle team, and rogue burns are not allowed. There will be a waiver you must sign to spin, and there may be other requirements for safety training. Anyone caught burning without prior approval or outside of designated ares(ie, rogue burns) will be addressed and could face expulsion from the event. 0 Tolerance
Is the event inclusive?
At Geek Out, management and attendees strive to be an inclusive event. We ask that everyone treat each other kindly and respect. Should any issues arise or anyone become unsafe, search out a staff member for our team to be able handle it accordingly.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes, that is an option. Though bear in mind that not every camp site has a grill or fire pit, and building fires outside of the pre-designated areas risks immediate expulsion from the event. This is to keep everyone safe and the grounds in good condition.
Are there children's passes available?
Children 12 and under are free with the purchase of an adult pass, with a limit of up to 2 children's passes per adult ticket purchased.
Is cosplay required for the event?
No, but it is highly encouraged. It is hot so plan accordingly, and we do request that it be family friendly or swimsuit coverings at all hours.
Are cars allowed at campsites?
Cars cannot remain at campsites due to the amount of campers in the designated camping areas. You will be allowed to pull your vehicle as close as possible to your campsite to unload but will be directed to park in designated parking areas.
Are glass bottles allowed?
Glass bottles are expressly forbidden on Hannon's Camp America Grounds. All drinks must be in plastic cups, plastic bottles, aluminum cans or private drinking cups.
